Real-Time Text (RTT) implementation in PSAPs: a step-by-step guide

The Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/444 has been introduced to integrate the European Electronic Communications Code (Directive 2018/1972) with measures that ensure effective access to emergency services through 112, the European Emergency Number.

These new measures are necessary to make emergency communications within the European Union compatible, interoperable, reliable, and continuous, in order to facilitate citizens' effective access to the emergency services provided by 112.

Real-Time Text (RTT) is a crucial part of this transformation. By 2027, all mobile devices, networks, and PSAPs across Europe will be required to support this technology.
