E-Citijens project: optimizing natural disaster response

E-CITIJENS is a transnational project led by the Molise region; started in 2019 with the aim to increase safety in the Adriatic basin by using Social Media as a monitoring tool shared with the population.

For the project, Beta 80 Group was responsible for designing, implementing and testing an advanced Emergency Decision Support System (EDSS), correlating data from a traditional sensor network with information that Social Media make publicly accessible.

The Molise region has also implemented a strong awareness campaign on the use of social networks to strengthen the role of citizens as "active sensors" in emergencies.
